Avoid Accidents Using Toyota Safety Sense
Driving requires careful attention to ensure the safety of you, your passengers, pedestrians, and others sharing the road. Imagine this, it’s late and you’re tired. You start drifting into the lane next to you. Within the blink of an eye you’ve caused a car accident. This can be avoided using Toyota Safety Sense features:
#1 Lane Departure Alert. Traveling at speeds over 32-mph will activate Lane Departure Alert (LDA). A hearing and visual aid will alert you if lane departure is detected on clearly marked roads.
#2 Steering Assist. Steering may be automatically adjusted using small corrective steering inputs. This is designed to work with LDA to help you and your vehicle stay in your lane. Steering Assist is included for Toyota vehicles equipped with Toyota Safety Sense and Electronic Power Steering (EPS).
#3 Automatic High Beams. High beams can distract drivers and oncoming traffic; yet they remain an important safety feature. Automatic high beams are designed to improve safety on the road. In-vehicle cameras work to help detect headlights and taillights of surrounding vehicles. Vehicle lights automatically shift between high and low beams as necessary to improve safety. High beams don’t have to be turned on for automatic high beams to power on. The better visibility you and your vehicle have, the safer you can be. Pedestrians and obstacles may be detected earlier using automatic high beams more frequently.
#3 Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Driving just got more fun. Toyota vehicles equipped with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) let you drive at a pre-set speed. So why is Dynamic Radar Cruise Control more fun than regular cruise control? It can automatically detect inconsistent traffic speeds slower than yours or within your preset range. Without deactivating cruise control DRCC can automatically slow down your vehicle. The DDRC system can resume regular cruise control speed when it senses that is appropriate.
#4 Pre-Collision System Featuring Pedestrian Detection. Reduce the risk of being involved in a potential collision using the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD). Similar to DRCC, PCS w/PD uses in-vehicle cameras and radar to detect pedestrians and vehicles in front of you. In the event a frontal collision warning is triggered an alert will be issued. Visual and audio notifications are issued to alert the driver of a potential collision.
#5 Brake Assist (BA). Accidents can happen fast. You just received a PCS w/PD warning and you abruptly press the brakes. BA can apply additional force to brakes when you need it the most. It can automatically apply brakes, just in case you don’t brake in time. BA may reduce the severity and likelihood of a fontal collision.
